Success isn’t an accident. It’s something that you consciously make happen by following proven life principles. Before you can arrive at your entrepreneurial destination, you have to change yourself and how you approach life in order to get results. You must identify the evergreen truths and values that will create success for you now and in the future.
“You can make it anywhere in the world if you execute, never give up, and are solution-oriented.”
Dennis Agalli
In order to build my brand Dennis Agalli, I had to consider what it truly means to leave ‘normal’ behind and become extraordinary. These are the life principles that helped me to achieve my own definition of success: a thriving business and a strong connection to the community.
Ready for the secret to success? Here are 6 life principles that will never fail you and help you to become successful in business and in life:
Life Principle #1: Build the Right Team
Finding the right team to help you grow your business is extremely important to look for. It’s not possible to do anything that is worthwhile all by yourself.
Anyone who says that they’ve done everything on their own, without anyone’s help at all, is a liar.
Look for people who are hungry enough to meet the challenge with values that align with your values.
The team needs to hold each other accountable so that you can meet your business goals.
You also need to know what your employees’ professional interests are so that you can support them and make them feel like they are part of a greater cause working for you.
Find someone who sees the potential for the future and is not only focused on the short term.
You want partners, not employees, in the beginning.
Make sure that your incentives align and have everyone commit to the bigger picture so that everyone has skin in the game.
Life Principle #2: Honesty & Integrity
Honesty and integrity goes far in business and in life. Ask your employees and partners these questions:
- What do you want to achieve
- What scares you most?
- What would happen if you failed?
- What motivates you?
- What are your intentions?
Never be okay with doing dirty business. Always encourage and do the right thing.
Doing right by people in business helps to foster a positive working environment for your employees and partners and brings a strong good energy to your brand. Doing right translates to also doing something good for the community.
Where you can be good and do good at the same time, you’ll find real satisfaction. Real-world impact, business success, and ultimately profit.
Life Principle #3: Be Respectful and Give Back to Your Employees
Even if you don’t agree with someone else’s point of view, always keep an open mind and be open to feedback. Don’t be a know-it-all. You might not have all of the details to take a side on the matter.
There’s a fine line between being open to feedback and actually taking ownership. Sometimes your workers might not fully understand why you are doing something and why you are making the decisions that you’re making.
Manage your ego and listen to others’ feedback and suggestions. It’s great that they care enough about you and your business to provide that help.
Respect. Always be respectful to all workers, from the highest to the lowest paid workers.
It’s okay to make mistakes. Instead of focusing on what went wrong, focus on solutions.
Don’t waste time with excuses and blame games. Forget about the details of how it happened that just don’t matter any more.
I don’t feel good firing people. If any boss says otherwise, then they are not a good boss.
Life Principle #4: Create a Work Culture That Motivates Your Employees
Don’t be a narcissist and have patience with your team.
Don’t make your people feel like they are in the wrong.
Your reputation matters. Having a good reputation in business will get you very far.
Always do good for people and maintain your business ethics. All of your positive efforts will come back to you 100x fold and create a motivated work culture.
Everyone on the team needs to buy into your vision.
Your business should have good energy. A positive vibe that makes people excited about their roles and the impact that they are having on the business and the world.
Life Principle #5: Loyalty
Loyal teams stick together. Everyone’s role on the team matters.
Trust is paramount. When things get hard, you need to support each other.
Life Principle #6: Work Hard & Be Action and Solution Oriented
Take action. Get it done. Learn. Adapt. Execute. Repeat.
Be firm in your decisions.
Control the environment around you, and don’t let it control you.
Find a way to adapt these life principles to every scenario and never shy away from them.
If you embark on the journey of entrepreneurship guided by these 6 timeless life principles, then you will experience success in life and business.
We can’t always go it alone. We need a team, and our team needs to have integrity and honesty.
As a business leader, this means that you also must have integrity and be honest in order to create a motivated work culture.
This culture is how you keep people loyal to your business and take a sense of pride in what they do.
